Ed Wardle - Profile
Adventurer and acclaimed film maker, Ed Wardle was nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Breakthrough Talent category and his series, 'Alone in the Wild' in the Huw Weldon Specialist Factual category. He is a self shooting producer/director and an accomplished explorer who has climbed Everest three times, trekked to the North Pole and crossed the Southern Ocean in a 21-foot wooden lifeboat. He is also a record-breaking freediver and is the 'UKs deepest man'.
Ed famously filmed himself trying to survive in the wilds of Northern Canada in his ground breaking television series 'Alone in The Wild' which single-handedly re-defined a TV genre.
“I have just, as the man almost said, seen the future of interactive television. And his name is Ed Wardle. He is the star of extraordinary documentary series Alone in the Wild and he has kindly allowed me to be his co-star in the first episode.” Graham Stuart, So Television, writing in Broadcast September 11, 2009.
“…an experiment so ambitious it made Ray Mears resemble little more than a lost Alan Titchmarsh and Bear Grylls a preposterous stuntman. Displaying a raw intimacy that few programmes of this type achieve, this was an unexpectedly compelling account of solitary human endeavour.” The Scotsman, September 11, 2009.
Ed has produced and filmed for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel. He has appeared on Discovery, National Geographic and Channel 4. He has recorded narration for BBC1, Channel 4 and The Discovery Channel.
